Princess of the Damned Skeleton Key edition by Wendy Knight Skeleton Key Children eBooks

I loved this! This is a great series! I love how each book is written by a different author, and I love seeing each of their interpretations and the different worlds the skeleton keys open! As soon as I read the prologue in Princess of the Damned, I knew I would love it, and I did! In this book, every time Landon looks in a mirror he sees Eiress, Landon has seen her since he was a young boy, and now he is 17 years old and feels deeply for Eiress. Landon can see and hear Eiress, but she can't see or hear Landon, but she feels his presence and his soul, and she also feels deeply for Landon. Eiress was captured by Mary Tudor a.k.a Bloody Mary, and Eiress is trapped in a castle with a vast wasteland filled with horrible creatures at the gates of Hell. Landon does what he can for Eiress, but it is becoming increasingly more difficult for him to see what Eiress has to go through, so he wants to find a way to rescue her. The love story was really cute and sweet, and I liked both of the characters. I loved that Eiress was tough and that she stood up for herself! I loved the whole premise, and I loved the setting for this story. I loved that the author used Bloody Mary! I also loved that Eiress has a little dragon as a pet, so cute! I would have liked to know and see more about Eiress and her brother. There was a lot of different side characters that really added some zing! to the story. The story was unique and interesting from beginning to end! I will definitely read more books in this series, and by author Wendy Knight!!

Princess of the Damned Skeleton Key edition by Wendy Knight Skeleton Key Children eBooks Reviews

I enjoyed it enough to go looking for more of the series, where I discovered that each one is written by different authors, and the set was on sale! It was an easy read for me. I wish it had been extended and fleshed out more. Its short length makes it feel rushed in a couple of places, and a little more background would've been great. Overall, I would recommend this book to someone who wants to try out a slightly dark/gothic story. It isn't as dark as the title led me to believe, although there are "nightmares", Vlad, Bloody Mary, and Elizabeth Bathory. It doesn't get too graphic. It could also use a better editor, but that goes for the whole series.
I don't read scary books. I heard good things about this so decided to read it despite the fact that Bloody Mary is the villain. I am so glad that I got up the courage to read it!
I absolutely love this book. It is filled with hope and determination. Eiress is probably my New favorite character, she didn't give in to darkness even when she was surrounded by it. She still tried to help others.
The book had it's intense moments but it wasn't so scary that I couldn't finish it. My daughter is now reading it. She loves these kind of books (goosebumps, fear street, that sort of thing) so this is perfect for her.
I was nervous about reading this because I am INCREDIBLY sensitive and I don't do horror stories, scary or gory stories, or stories with a lot of violence. I couldn't tell from the blurb if it would be too disturbing for me, or merely a book with a dark storyline. I didn't need to worry! This book had a few scenes I'd call "chilling" and, yes, there were mentions of blood; yet, it was so much more about Eiress & Landon and their journey to find each other... to help each other. And to help themselves. I suppose you always have to have an obstacle for characters to overcome in order to make an interesting plot that will draw people in & keep them engaged. Ms Knight does this SO well, in my opinion; I love the creativity and ingenuity of her stories! I love her characters and the way they are developed. I love the descriptions and dialogs. All in all, I find her work to be utterly enjoyable and thoroughly entertaining! And I thank her for sharing it with the reader world )
Absolutely. Freaking. Amazing!

For the longest time, this book sat on my TBR pile, untouched. Wendy has been one of my go-to authors for a long time and I have always loved her books. But for some reason, I couldn’t make myself pick it up. Maybe it was Bloody Mary. So when the book of the month came around at the beginning of June and Wendy announced that we were reading Princess of the Damned, I pulled out the Audible version and put both feet in, ready to conquer my fears and face Bloody Mary.

Oh. My. Wow.

Hannah Preisinger did an amazing job with the narration for this book. Mary and Elizabeth like to squeal and scream a lot in this book and she captured their temperaments perfectly! So perfect, in fact, that I actually liked listening to Bloody Mary’s character for the majority of the book. Her voice isn’t evil and scary . . . it’s soft and sweet. Until she screams. And the mirrors! And the claws! And Cassie . . . oh, I want to ring her neck myself!

There is one point in the book, about two-thirds of the way through, when Mary really shows her true colors. I was listening to it in the car, by myself, at night, alone, in the dark. Get the picture? And now, I thank you Wendy, I can no longer use the bathroom in the dark in the middle of the night because I am terrified Bloody Mary will climb through my mirror!
What do you do when the face in the mirror isn't yours?

The Princess of the Damned trapped...
The boys who sees her in the mirror...
Falls in love with her...
Now, he needs to save her from the Queen of the Damned...

The Bloody Mary angle was different, original, and most definitely alluring and engrossing. I was so absorbed in the story that I did not notice anything around me. So thrilling and spine-chilling!

Such a brilliantly done read - loved the take on Bloody Mary and what horror goes on in the Isles of the Damned. So disturbing but as the same time wickedly good!

Full of Hell, ghosts, souls, Bloody Mary, bravery, strong-willed and determined characters, darkness, cruelty, strength and love.

Perfect for readers of paranormal romance/horror.
